Combos & Interactions

Requirements and sequence

These are reviewed gameplay relationships, not a decklist and not proof that a card is moving in the market.

Infinite

Círdan, Spark Double, Cloudstone Curio, and Illusion of Choice loop

Verified

Infinite enters-the-battlefield events, infinite leaves-the-battlefield events, and infinite card draw for each opponent receiving the controlled votes.

Required Cards

Setup

  • Círdan and Cloudstone Curio are on the battlefield.
  • Illusion of Choice is cast and its vote-control effect lasts for the turn.
  • Spark Double is in hand and can be cast as a nonlegendary Círdan copy.
  • The controller can assign all votes to players other than themselves so they receive no votes.

{3}{U}{U}

Sequence

  1. Cast Illusion of Choice.
  2. Cast Spark Double as a nonlegendary copy of Círdan.
  3. Stack Spark Double's copied Círdan trigger and Cloudstone Curio trigger so Curio can return original Círdan.
  4. Resolve Cloudstone Curio and return original Círdan to hand.
  5. Resolve the copied Círdan trigger and use Illusion of Choice so the combo controller receives no votes.
  6. Put original Círdan onto the battlefield from hand.
  7. Stack original Círdan and Cloudstone Curio triggers, then return Spark Double to hand.
  8. Resolve original Círdan's trigger, again assigning votes away from the combo controller.
  9. Put Spark Double onto the battlefield as a nonlegendary Círdan copy and repeat.

Interruption Points

  • Counter Illusion of Choice, Spark Double, or a Círdan trigger.
  • Remove Cloudstone Curio before its trigger resolves.
  • Remove the active Círdan object before the loop can continue.
  • Apply draw replacement, draw prevention, or reshuffle effects before infinite opponent draw becomes lethal.

Círdan the Shipwright role: Círdan supplies the secret-council trigger and no-vote permanent entry needed to replay the loop pieces.

Timing: Illusion of Choice must still apply during the votes this turn.

Rules notes: Cloudstone Curio's return is optional, and the loop relies on choosing the bounce at the correct points. Spark Double is not generalized to arbitrary clones because the Spellbook line uses Spark Double's nonlegendary copy text. The permanents put onto the battlefield by Círdan are not cast. A separate conclusion or outlet may be needed when infinite opponent draw is not enough. Entry and attack triggers: Círdan triggers when he enters or attacks; combat damage is unnecessary, and vigilance leaves him untapped after attacking. Secret council: Secret council has no independent rules meaning beyond the printed instructions on Círdan. Mandatory secret votes: Each player secretly votes for a player, players cannot abstain, players may vote for themselves, and table promises about votes are nonbinding. Simultaneous reveal: Actual votes remain concealed until all votes are revealed simultaneously. Reward order: Card draws happen before free-permanent actions, and both sets of actions occur in active-player-first turn order during one resolving ability. Draw reward: Each player draws a card for each vote they received; Narset-style restrictions can change how much a player actually draws. No-vote reward: A player receiving zero votes may put one permanent card from hand onto the battlefield, and receiving any vote prevents that player's no-vote action. Put is not cast: The permanent is not cast, so cast triggers and cascade do not occur, but enter-the-battlefield triggers do occur. Lands and Auras: A land may enter without consuming a land play; Auras need a legal object or player to enchant. No priority mid-resolution: No player receives priority during Círdan's resolving ability, and later players see what earlier players put onto the battlefield. Multiple no-vote players: Multiple players may receive zero votes and each eligible player may decline the permanent action. Trigger amplification: Panharmonicon increases only the entry-trigger mode; Roaming Throne can increase both entry and attack modes; Strionic Resonator can copy a trigger. Separate votes: Multiple Círdan or copied secret-council triggers resolve separately and create separate votes. Illusion of Choice: Illusion of Choice controls votes for the turn, voting does not target, and the effect must still be active when Círdan's vote resolves. Opponent ownership: Opponents control the permanents they put onto the battlefield, so Círdan can give the table real resources.
