Raphael is primarily a Rakdos Aristocrats commander. Put a creature card into your graveyard during the turn, reach that end step with Raphael, make a Devil, then attack or sacrifice Devils with Fiend and death payoffs.

Commander Overview

How This Commander Plays

Raphael, Fiendish Savior is a five-mana Rakdos Devil Noble with flying. He pumps other Demons, Devils, Imps, and Tieflings, gives them lifelink, and creates a Devil at each end step if a creature card entered your graveyard that turn.

Core Game Plan

  1. Establish Rakdos mana and a graveyard enabler.
  2. Resolve Raphael safely.
  3. Enable the condition during multiple players' turns.
  4. Accumulate Devil tokens.
  5. Sacrifice or attack with those Devils.
  6. Add Fiend and death payoffs.
  7. Finish through combat or a verified loop.

Build Paths

Fiend Aristocrats

Use creature-card graveyard enablers, sacrifice outlets, and death payoffs so every turn cycle creates more Devils.

This is the default build and cares more about graveyard events and sacrifice timing than raw Demon curve.
Demon and Fiend Typal

Use Raphael as a Fiend lord for Demons, Devils, Imps, and Tieflings while keeping sacrifice payoffs available.

Typal pressure is real, but Demon and Devil density should not crowd out enablers.
Devil Tokens

Maximize Devil creation and convert token deaths into damage, Treasure, cards, and sacrifice triggers.

Token deaths do not satisfy Raphael's creature-card condition by themselves.
Turn-Cycle Graveyard Control

Use discard, mill, recursive creatures, and instant-speed sacrifice so Raphael can trigger on multiple players' turns.

This branch is slower and needs more setup, but it makes Raphael's each-end-step text matter.

Pitiless Plunderer plus Ashnod's Altar plus Reassembling Skeleton is a verified loop that Raphael supports but does not require. Exquisite Blood plus Sanguine Bond is a build-dependent lifegain combo.
