Absorbing Man - Intelligence

Absorbing Man copies an artifact, non-Aura enchantment, or land at the beginning of your first main phase, then uses that text box until your next turn.

Absorbing Man triggers at the beginning of your first main phase and may copy up to one target artifact, non-Aura enchantment, or land until your next turn.

Any player's artifact, land, or non-Aura enchantment can be targeted. Enchantment creatures qualify if they are not Auras; ordinary creatures need another qualifying type.

Targets are chosen when the trigger goes on the stack. Liquimetal Coating or Liquimetal Torque must make a desired target an artifact before that point.

If the only target is illegal as the trigger resolves, the copy effect does not happen. A target leaving after resolution does not end an already-created copy effect.

Counters, damage, tapped status, attachments, and unrelated continuous effects are not copied. Becoming a copy is not entering the battlefield.

Absorbing Man keeps his name, stays legendary, remains a 4/4 Human Villain creature in addition to copied types, and has vigilance.

The copy effect lasts until the controller's next turn. Absorbing Man normally loses the printed copy ability while the copy effect exists, then regains it when the duration ends.

Copying a land or artifact with a tap ability does not reset control duration. Absorbing Man still cannot use tap abilities if summoning sickness applies.

Copying a legendary permanent does not give Absorbing Man the target's name. Multiple permanents named Absorbing Man can still collide unless another effect changes the legend-rule result.

Copying a Saga does not make Absorbing Man enter or automatically add a lore counter. ETB and as-enters abilities do not occur solely from becoming a copy.

Rules evidence is stored as reviewed Factory interpretation. Public combo publication remains blocked until exact source or verifier records are imported.

Later copy effects involving Spark Double, Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, Auton Soldier, and similar cards need timestamp and copy-layer verification before stronger public legend-rule claims.

Ice counters are not copied. If Absorbing Man copies Dark Depths, the no-counter trigger can apply to Absorbing Man and sacrificing him can create Marit Lage. This is a one-shot interaction, not an infinite combo.

Absorbing Man does not enter the battlefield when becoming a copy, so Lotus Field's sacrifice-on-entry text does not happen. The copied mana ability and hexproof apply while the copy effect lasts, subject to summoning sickness.

Darksteel Citadel and Tanglepool Bridge are legal targets. Copying an indestructible permanent gives Absorbing Man indestructible while the copy effect persists.

Liquimetal Torque or Liquimetal Coating can make a permanent an artifact before the first-main trigger chooses targets. Activating after target selection is too late for that trigger.

Spark Double, Sakashima of a Thousand Faces, Phyrexian Metamorph, Auton Soldier, Clever Impersonator, Mirrormade, Mirror Box, and Mirror Gallery stay in review for later-copy-effect claims.

Copy lands that produce mana, grant protection, or create a one-shot finish.

Treat the battlefield as a menu of artifact, enchantment, and land text boxes.

Create more Absorbing Man objects or copy high-value permanents while managing the legend rule.

Use Absorbing Man as Lotus Field, then untap him repeatedly with a blue Aura.
