Meria, Scholar of Antiquity - Intelligence

Meria turns cheap relics into a renewable Gruul resource engine. Every qualifying artifact can become green mana, while pairs of artifacts convert into temporary access to the top of the library.

Official Dominaria United ruling from 2022-09-09: Meria may tap any untapped nontoken artifact to activate her abilities, including artifact creatures that entered this turn, even if they do not have haste.

The reason is that Meria's ability taps another object as its cost; that object is not activating its own ability with a tap or untap symbol.

Artifact tokens are rejected as direct Meria resources because both activation costs require nontoken artifacts.

Meria does not tap for either ability, does not need haste, and untapping Meria does not create more activations by itself.

Meria's first ability is a mana ability and normally does not use the stack; the exile ability uses the stack and can be responded to.

Cards exiled by Meria may be played only this turn, with normal costs, timing, and land-play limits still applying.

Equipment can be tapped for Meria while attached; tapping it does not detach it, tap the equipped creature, or disable static bonuses.

Null Rod and Collector Ouphe do not inherently stop Meria's own creature abilities, but they can suppress other artifact activated abilities in the deck.

Flood the board with cheap nontoken artifacts, then use Meria's mana and exile ability to keep casting through the turn.

Treat Meria as the tap engine for reviewed artifact-creature and artifact-sacrifice loops while rejecting off-color reducers.

Lean on Meria's creature abilities and tapped-static-artifact rules to turn restriction artifacts into uneven pressure.

Use artifact lands, recursion, topdeck control, and durable threats to make Meria a steady value commander.
