Infinite
Ayula + Herd Baloth + Maskwood Nexus
Infinite Bear tokens, repeated Bear entries, and arbitrarily many +1/+1 counters on Herd Baloth.
Required Cards
Setup
- Ayula, Herd Baloth, and Maskwood Nexus are on the battlefield.
- A Bear or all-types creature entry starts the first Ayula trigger.
- Herd Baloth remains a legal creature to receive Ayula's counter.
Sequence
- Control Ayula, Herd Baloth, and Maskwood Nexus.
- A creature enters as a Bear because of Maskwood Nexus.
- Ayula puts a +1/+1 counter on Herd Baloth.
- Herd Baloth creates a 4/4 Beast token that is also a Bear.
- The new Bear entry triggers Ayula again and repeats the loop.
Interruption Points
- Remove Maskwood Nexus before the token enters.
- Remove Ayula before the Bear-entry trigger resolves.
- Remove Herd Baloth before the counter is placed.
Rules notes: Beorn is compatible with the deck but is not required for this loop. Maskwood Nexus makes Herd Baloth's Beast tokens Bears as they enter. Conversion is not entry: Making a creature a Bear does not make it enter. Ayula does not trigger from Beorn conversion. The counter and the type are separate: Preventing the trample counter does not prevent Bear conversion. Removing the counter does not remove the Bear type. Multiple trample counters do not multiply trample. A new object loses the conversion: The Bear effect survives cleanup and Beorn leaving. A zone change creates a new object and removes that old conversion. Maskwood and changelings: Changelings count as Bears once. Nexus makes every creature you control a Bear; an independent Beorn conversion survives Nexus removal. Roaming Throne chooses Bear: Throne becomes a Bear, receives the anthem, and makes Beorn trigger an additional time. Each trigger chooses its target separately. Copy one trigger: Strionic Resonator and Lithoform Engine permit new targets for a copied trigger. Each resolution counts the Bears present then. Draw two is mandatory: The trigger happens below three Bears and checks after conversion. At least three Bears draws exactly two, even with a larger Bear board. Beorn can leave after triggering: A trigger on the stack survives Beorn leaving. His anthem ends, and he no longer counts toward the resolving three-Bear check. Beorn counts, but does not buff himself: Beorn is a Bear and counts toward the three-Bear draw check, but his anthem says other Bears, so it does not give Beorn +2/+2. The trigger checks after type change: Beorn plus one other Bear can target a non-Bear you control, make that creature the third Bear, then draw two cards when the ability resolves. No target is legal: The ability says up to one target creature, so choosing no target is legal. If no target is chosen, the ability can still check whether you control three or more Bears. Illegal target stops the ability: If a chosen target becomes illegal before the trigger resolves, the whole ability fails, including the draw check. Counters and type change persist: The trample counter remains, and the target stays a Bear in addition to its other types because no duration is given. Extra combats retrigger Beorn: Each beginning of combat on your turn can trigger Beorn. Extra-combat effects can add more trample counters, type changes, and draw checks.
